Alice E. (Williams) O’Brien, a retired Rehabilitation Aide, died peacefully on Sunday June 13 at her Malden home, surrounded by family members following a courageous battle with overwhelming illness. She was 65 years old.

Born and raised in Chelsea, O’Brien was the daughter of the late Paul H. Williams and the late Gloria (Molinari) Groom. She completed her education at local schools and married Edward F. O’Brien in 1968. The couple remained together for 23 years until his death in 1991.

For the past 38 years, O’Brien had been a Malden resident who prioritized her home and family. Her professional career included 10 years of work as a Rehabilitation Aide at the Annemark Nursing Home in Revere, from which she retired in 1995.

She is survived by her devoted children Patricia “Patti” O’Brien of Malden and Edward F. O’Brien III and his wife, Deanna, of Needham. Her grandchildren include Edward F. Dore, Jillian Lisa Dore and the late Erin Dore. She is also survived by her aunt Paula Gallant of Wilmington and uncle Wally Williams of Revere, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Paul B. and David Williams, predeceased her.

Visiting hours will take place Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Frank A. Welsh & Son’s Funeral Home, 718 Broadway, Chelsea. The funeral service begins Friday, June 18 at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 660 Washington Ave., Revere. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. The funeral home is fully handicap accessible with ample parking available opposite the building. Relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend.
