Late last week, Chief Brian A. Kyes made an announcement regarding enforcement activities by the Chelsea Police Department. The department will be carrying out unannounced inspections at all licensed establishments where liquor is sold or served.
Throughout 2017, these inspections will take place with particular attention paid to underage drinking prevention. Licensed establishments operating in Chelsea are required to comply with both City and state regulations. The inspections are designed to educate business owners and verify compliance with applicable laws. Officers from the Chelsea Police who have completed liquor enforcement training will perform these inspections and report any violations to the Chelsea Licensing Commission, which possesses the power to apply sanctions.
