Route 16 in the area between Santilli Circle in Everett and Wellington Circle in Medford will experience overnight double lane closures, according to an announcement from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
Starting at 9 p.m. and continuing until 5 a.m., these closures will affect both eastbound and westbound traffic. The work is scheduled for Sunday May 19 through Thursday, May 23, and again from Tuesday, May 28 through Thursday, May 30.
The installation of a bridge joint system on the Woods Memorial Bridge requires these temporary traffic restrictions. At least one lane in each direction will remain available to motorists throughout the closure periods.
Drivers should be prepared for potential delays in the work zone, where signage will direct traffic flow. Reduced speeds and heightened caution are advised for all vehicles in the area. Weather conditions may affect the schedule, and changes could occur without advance notice.
