Lottie “Charlotte” Goldkrand, a longtime Chelsea resident who previously lived in Revere, passed away on November 22 at the age of 98. Originally from Roxbury and raised in Chelsea, she completed her education at Chelsea High School after attending Chelsea Schools. Throughout her career, she served as senior clerk in the assessor’s office for the City of Chelsea.
Goldkrand maintained an extensive involvement with numerous community institutions and organizations. Her affiliations included Hadassah, Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home, Jewish Family Society, Jewish Civic Service Employees, National Asthma Center, Jewish Memorial Hospital, Everett Seniors Social Club, Temple Emmanuel (where she held life membership), the temple Sisterhood, Carl Stein Post #187-Auxiliary Everett, Hebrew Rehabilitation Center-Roslindale, and Congregation Tifereth Abraham (also a life member). While residing at the Florence Cohen Levine Estates, she regularly led religious services.
An accomplished vocalist, Goldkrand pursued singing as her primary passion throughout her lifetime. Her performances took her to choral groups, choirs, nursing homes, senior citizens groups, and Shabbat services.
She is survived by her aunt relationships with Susan Arsenault and her husband Joseph, as well as Ellen Fine and her husband Scott. Rebecca Fine is her great-niece. She was preceded in death by her husband, Abner Goldkrand, and her sister, Dorothy Steinberg.
A service will take place today, Wednesday, November 24, at 11 a.m. at the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Ave. Cary Square, Chelsea. Following the service, interment will occur at the Baker Street Jewish Cemeteries in West Roxbury.
