The Market Basket Mall is set to welcome a new Dockside sports lounge and restaurant this spring, continuing the mall’s recent expansion. Dockside Restaurants, a well-established sports restaurant chain with existing locations in Malden and Wakefield, is bringing its concept to Chelsea. The new venue will occupy the space currently held by the AJ Wright outlet at Market Basket Mall. The restaurant will mirror its flagship Malden location, featuring American cuisine in a sports-themed atmosphere complete with a central bar, flat screens throughout, wooden furnishings including stools and tables, comfortable booths, and a private dining room accommodating nearly 200 guests for special occasions.
Lisa Urbaczewski, daughter of Jackie Urbaczewski who founded the chain’s other two locations, will manage the Chelsea restaurant. “This is a dream come true for us,” said Lisa Urbaczewski. She expects the restaurant to open in May or June and plans to use the opening as a fundraising event for the local Salvation Army. “I know my Dad is extremely excited to bring his business back to Chelsea,” she said. Jackie Urbaczewski, a former Chelsea police detective, cited the chance to return to his hometown as a key factor in the decision to locate at the mall. “After all, this is the neighborhood he grew up in, where his roots are and I think it is particularly nice that he has come full circle and will be back here in the spring.” he added. “I am humbled to have this chance to open a first class restaurant in a city that I love and where I grew up. Coming back here at this time in my life means so much to me. It is impossible to describe unless you grew up in this city when it was a far different place than it is today,”
The company has secured a long-term lease with the Demoulas Family, who own the mall. With the FBI’s arrival in town, the timing for this opening appears particularly favorable.
