Calvin Brown has filed two resolutions this year and no orders. He has missed two meetings but ten roll calls, because he has also left meetings before the votes at the end. On the year’s two substantive splits he voted with Taylor and Robinson. That is the record, and it is thin enough that the gaps are the story.
What he has filed
In January, a resolution celebrating four Chelsea centenarians. On September 14, a resolution for the 131st anniversary of Zion Church Ministries and Bishop Robert G. Brown’s 47th year as its pastor. He is vice-chair of the Aging and Veterans subcommittee, and was absent for its one contested vote this year, the June 16 tie on Recupero’s senior tax petition.
How he has voted
In December 2025 he voted no, with Taylor and Robinson, on considering CPA grants individually. On March 30 he voted to continue the inclusionary meeting. On June 22 he voted no on the Hines amendment that set the inclusionary fee at $275,000, then yes on the ordinance. He was absent for the April 27 vote on Recupero’s three-family zoning.
Attendance
Absent March 3 and May 4. Late to the June 22 swearing-in. On June 22 he was present for the zoning vote and the union contract early in the meeting and marked absent for the finance orders that followed. He has made six motions under suspension. He sits on this year’s City Manager evaluation committee.
The profile
The record shows the council’s least active legislator and, on the two occasions the body split, a vote with the more cautious side. He holds his seat by six votes after a December recount, which his biography describes. There is no order or vote in 2026 from which a resident of District 8 could learn what he would do with a larger margin.
