Lady Red Devils Look to Tourney

Chelsea, Massachusetts

Despite losing their final two games of the season to Greater Lowell and Pope John in tightly contested matches, the Chelsea High girls basketball team, known as the Lady Red Devils, is still in a strong position for the state tournament. The team closed the season with an impressive 13-4 record and will likely earn a high seed, which could mean a home game in the opening round. “We played well in both games and certainly had our chances to win,” noted Matt LaBranche, the head coach of CHS, whose team secured the Commonwealth Athletic Conference Small School Division title and went 13-2 against CAC opponents. “We have some things to work on before the tourney, but the team is excited to be where we are and looking forward to the post season.” The MIAA is anticipated to release the tournament seedings and first-round matchups on Friday.
