Frank Lewis, a Chelsea native who grew up in a large family and went to St. Stanislaus School and Chelsea High School, died October 1 at Glen Ridge Nursing Home in Medford. He was 69, weeks short of his 70th birthday.

He was born in Chelsea on October 27, 1956, the son of Stella (Racki) Lewis and the late Winthrop L. Lewis. For many years he worked as a food packer in the cold-water fish business, until a disability forced him to stop.

His mother, Stella, survives him, as does his son, Frank A. Lewis. He also leaves his brothers Robert, with his wife Debra; Richard; Ronald, with his wife Patricia; Michael; Paul, with his wife Kim; Winthrop E., with his wife Robyn; and Stephen. His sisters Elaine Chitopoulos, with her husband Nick, and Michelle O’Neil, with her husband Shawn, survive him too. His brother David died before him. He also leaves grandchildren and a large circle of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and great-grandnieces and nephews.

Visiting hours are Thursday, October 8, from 9:30 a.m. at the Welsh Funeral Home, 718 Broadway, Chelsea, with a funeral service there at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
