Walter L. Currant Jr., who lived his whole life in Everett and spent much of it behind the bar at Zeke’s Pub, died on Saturday, September 12, 2026 in Wakefield. He was 73.
He was born in Malden on January 9, 1953, a son of Walter L. and Jane (Oberlander) Currant, and graduated from Everett High School with the class of 1971. He was a bartender at Zeke’s in Everett for many years. Away from work his enthusiasm was cars, and Lincolns in particular.
He leaves his brother, Philip Currant, and Philip’s wife Cynthia, of Wakefield; his sister, Jane Newbegin, and her husband Richard, also of Wakefield; six nieces and nephews; and grandnieces and a grandnephew. His sister Donna McDonough died before him.
Visitation is Tuesday, September 22, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Avenue, Wakefield. Funeral services are private.
